Open power ranking
The official competition in Belgium
Open Power Ranking (OPR)
The official ranking system for Belgian roundnet.
This initiative is a key step by Roundnet Belgium to professionalize the sport,
fostering competitive play while providing a clear framework to measure player skills.
How does it work?
Everyone can compete in the OPR by participating in tournaments approved by Roundnet Belgium and listed on the official calendar. Events that are part of the Roundnet Belgium Summer League (RBSL) or Winter League (RBWL) offer the most points and are easily recognized by their prefixes.
The OPR is an individual ranking system, allowing players to team up with different partners throughout the season. A player’s total score is based on the points they earn from up to five tournaments, with older results gradually losing value over time to keep the rankings current.
Why does it matter?
The OPR is crucial for determining seeding and eligibility for events like the Belgian National Championship. The top-ranked teams gain entry into the prestigious Elite Division, ensuring the most competitive matchups at the season’s pinnacle event.
Points System Highlights:
- Points earned depend on performance and the strength of competition at sanctioned events.
- Only the top five results of each player count toward their total.
- Points decay over time to ensure the ranking reflects recent performance.

Belgian National Championship
The Belgian National Championship will use the Open Power Ranking to determine the Elite Division. This division will consist of the 16 best ranked teams of the season. A team’s score is determined by taking the average of the team member’s scores. All other teams will be able to register in the Open Division and compete for the title of Open National Champion.
Women Power Ranking (WPR)
The Women Power Ranking (WPR) functions similarly to the OPR but is tailored for all-female teams. Women’s teams may choose to compete in either the Women’s Division or the Open Division, with their points contributing to the respective ranking system. The WPR uses a simplified scoring matrix to accommodate smaller player pools while encouraging more participation.
By competing in sanctioned events, you can climb the rankings and contribute to the growing competitive scene in Belgium.
